K-6 Program
The K-6 Program meets the basic learning outcomes of the BC Curriculum. Homeroom teachers teach the core subjects of language arts, math, science and social studies. An art specialists teaches Grades 1-6 art, a music specialist teaches Grades 2-5 choir and Grade 6 band. Grade 5 and 6 students take Core French. Grades 1-6 also take computers.
7-9 Program
Most Grade 7 to 9 courses run all year. Core courses which all students take include: English, math, science, social studies, PE, French, computers, and business education. Grade 7-9 students choose art or band. All students take Bible as a course also.
10-12 Graduation Program
To graduate with a BC Dogwood Diploma, students must earn 80 credits as follows:
Required Courses - 48 credits
- English 10 - 4 credits
- English 11 - 4 credits
- English 12 - 4 credits
- Social Studies 10 - 4 credits
- Social Studies 11 - 4 credits
- Math 10 (Principles or Essentials) - 4 credits
- Math 11 (Principles, Applications, or Essentials) - 4 credits
- Science 10 - 4 credits
- a Science 11 or 12 - 4 credits
(Biology 11 (required),Biology 12; Chemistry 11, 12; Physics 11, 12) - a Fine Arts and/or Applied Skills 10, 11,12 course - 4 credits
(See courses listed below) - Physical Education 10 - 4 credits
- Planning 10 - 4 credits
Elective Courses - 28 credits
Students must earn at least 28 elective credits from Ministry-Authorized courses, External Credentials, Board Authority Authorized courses or Independent Directed Studies. CRCS courses include those listed above and:
- Bible 10, 11, and 12 (all required at CRCS) - 4 credits each
- Food Studies 11 and 12 - 4 credits each
- French 11 - 4 credits
- ICT: Computer Studies 11 and 12 - 4 credits each
- Concert Band 10, 11, and 12 - 4 credits each
- Jazz Band 10 - 2 credits
- Jazz Band 11 and 12 (Independent Directed Studies) - 2 credits each
- Music Leadership 10, 11, and 12 - 2 credits each
- Physical Education 11 and 12 - 4 credits each
- Media Arts 10, 11, and 12 - 4 credits each
- Yearbook 10 and 11 - 2 credits each
- Calculus 12 - 4 credits
- Writing 12 - 4 credits
- History 12 - 4 credits
- Geography 12 - 4 credits
- Teaching Assistant 11 and 12
Graduation Portfolio - 4 credits
Grade 12's must plan and lead one chapel with a partner.
